First, you’ll want to submit an inquiry on our website to confirm availability and set up a tour. Choosing a wedding venue is arguably the most important step in your wedding planning process and we know it’s a big decision, so after touring the property you’ll be given the opportunity to put a “soft hold” on a date for one week as you review our contract. If you decide to move forward with our venue (and we hope you do!), you’ll sign the contract, pay the initial deposit and then the real fun begins… planning your dream wedding at The 1868 Farmhouse!
To kick off wedding planning, we’ll provide you with an extensive list of Central Iowa wedding vendors that we love. We’ll touch base throughout the planning process and you’ll be invited back to the venue at least two time to look through and plan your decor and a final venue walkthrough 1-3 months prior to your event.

How far out can I reserve a date for my event?
The furthest we will book out for an event is two years, but most of our couples book a date 12-18 months prior to their wedding.

What is the alcohol policy?
Because we want your party to be fun, safe and stress-free, we carry the liquor license and dram shop insurance. We keep a fully stocked bar and will coordinate all alcohol + provide bartenders for your special event.

What is the catering policy?
As long as your caterer is insured, they're welcome at The 1868 Farmhouse.

Is there HVAC?
You bet! Although we're on a farm, the venue is not inside a barn. Our climate-controlled reception building will keep you and your guests cool in the summer and warm during Iowa's bitterly cold winter.

How much is the deposit for a wedding?
We require a $2,500 deposit. $2,000 of that goes towards your overall Event Rental Fee and $500 is a refundable damage deposit.
